Wired visited with the Bay Area Artoo Builders Group for
a look at their fully functioning R2-D2 replicas (X-Wing Fighter not
included). Maybe they’re not functional enough to navigate a starship, but the
top-mounted dome swivels, the periscope rises, all manner of lights flicker,
panels open and more. There’s even a panel with a built-in fire extinguisher!
The $10K minimum cost is a factor, but being a fanboy often comes with a heavy
price. Enjoy!
Today as promised, you can get
your fix of High Definition video clips from Star Wars: The Old Republic from
the Movies Section. These
are very large files so it will take a while for you to download. You can find
the following video clips in our Video Game Scenes
section:
Today I have updated the Ships Section with the
Mon
Calamari Heavy Carrier (Blue Diver). This excellent ship was created
by Drone, a very talented artist who has provided permission to some really cool
obscure ships in the Star Wars universe. Look for more of his great work in the
future!
You can get a listing of ships using their picture by type at the Capital Ships Section. Or, if you would like to
see an alphabetical listing of all of our ships, vehicles, bases, and space
stations, you can check out the Index.
If you have a ship you would like to see me add, then e-mail me the request and
I will do my best to add it for you. Enjoy!
The Old Republic Official Site has released E3 Deceived
Cinematic Trailer and boy is it a great one! From the looks of this one, they
could make a movie from the cinematics and I would be a happy camper.
The Sacking of Coruscant. It was the crowning achievement of the Sith
Empire’s ambitious military strategy and the moment that changed the history of
the Old Republic forever.
Republic leaders have traveled to Alderaan to
engage in promised peace talks with the Sith Empire. The most powerful Jedi have
accompanied them to safeguard against an Imperial deception. The Empire’s real
motive, however, was simply to lure the Republic’s strongest defenders away from
Coruscant and set the stage for an audacious attack. Under the command of Lord
Angral, the Sith fleet approaches the Republic’s capital planet for the first
time in centuries. In advance of the fleet, the strongest Sith Warriors have
flown a stolen Republic ship into Coruscant’s orbit. Their mission is critical –
to destroy the planet’s defense grid mainframe hidden in the heart of the Jedi
Temple.
You must watch it now! It will not disappoint! Look for a downloadable HD
version tomorrow.

There is a LucasFilm video that
was secretly recorded containing footage from Season 2 of Star Wars: The Clone
Wars. Apparently it was taken at a recent company preview. The video does not
have sound and was taken at a bad angle for obvious reasons I'm sure. There is a
Mandalorian in the clip which is always very cool. There are lots of images from
the season that fly through, so you may need to view things a couple of times.
Catch it while you can! The YouTube version has already disappeared.

TheForce.net has gotten word that the Star Wars Live-Action
Series may have begun pre-production.
"Just to tell you I discovered this week an interesting document on the Screen Australia website in which the Star Wars live-action is
listed as in pre-production since this month. We also can see they have planned
to produce at least 100 episodes. You can see a screen-print of the document on
my news here.
I also contacted
Screen Australia to have more information about this update and a representative
told me: "It is expected that the production of the Star Wars series will be
soon. As you can appreciate things can change daily in the film industry. We
recommend that you get in contact directly Lucasfilm."
So, I emailed Lucasfilm and they told me "The live-action series
is still too far off for any immediately impending announcements, but feel free
to keep checking in!"
Nothing being a
scoop here, but it seems the production of the show is really moving forward in
the background... and Lucasfilm doesn't seem to want to tell anything until
there is an official announcement..."
DVDActive has the latest scoop on the next video installment
of The Clone Wars TV Series.
"Warner Home Video has provided us with artwork for The Clone Wars: Clone
Commandos which includes 4 more episodes from the animated series (Rookies,
Storm over Ryloth, Innocents of Ryloth, Liberty of Ryloth). The disc will be
available to own from the 15th September, and should retail at around $19.98. As
far as we know, no extra material will be included."
As for me... I am going to wait for the full Season 1 Boxed Set that should
be out towards the end of this year. It will have the bonus material you are
looking for.
