The episode is the first part of a planned series of episodes retelling and parodying the original trilogy, with the show's characters recast into specific roles; this episode is a retelling of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. For this purpose, and for the first time in the history of Family Guy, this episode is an hour long.
