Republic Credits Reborn!

AllTroops our partner site for all your collecting needs has brought back the Republic Credits!

Well, it’s been a long time coming, but we’re happy to let our users know that the Republic Credits program is back on track. Anyone who’s been with us a while might know it as a way to be rewarded for contributing to the site, be it news, photos, etc.

This time, our big credit-winners are photographs of products. We’d really like to get our guides full-up on images. Next, using our Wiki Mode, you can help us by finding discrepancies in our information. Of course, submit to us news that is collecting-related and does not infringe on other sites’ rights. Finally, refer a friend, or two, or more and get credits for that too! Build ’em up and you can choose from any number of incentives that we and our sponsors have helped gather.

The Republic Credits III program is open to all users, but know this - Premium users get DOUBLE the credits (so it may be worthwhile to consider upgrading...)

Ships Section Updated

Today I have updated the Ships Section with the AT-TE. This vehicle was requested by our good friend Craig Burt. The page includes a Flash video of the ship to give you something a little more interesting. You can get a listing of ships and vehicles using their picture by type at the Ships Section. Or, if you would like to see an alphabetical listing of all of our ships and vehicles, you can check out the Ship Index. If you have a ship you would like to see me add, then e-mail me the request and I will do my best to add it for you. Enjoy!

Lucas Gets Involved

The Official Star Wars Site has a great new article about George Lucas' involvement with the upcoming 3D Clone Wars cartoon. The Clone Wars has got him. Really got him. George Lucas loves The Clone Wars. Since production began in 2006, Lucas has become increasingly involved with the series, a direct result of his rising respect for it and those responsible for bringing it to life. Early on, though, when stories, artwork, and characters were still in the concept phase, it was unclear whether he'd be willing to return whole-heartedly to the saga, especially after wrapping up his 28-year movie opus.

Filoni believes one of the reasons Lucas is so committed to the series is because it allows him to explore the characters more intimately -- something the films did not afford him to do. The characters, in fact, have become such an important priority that production was significantly slowed down at one point to recalibrate the scripts.

"We essentially rewrote the initial 12 scripts in the middle of production as the personal stories just weren't coming through when we got into editorial," remembers Winder. "George said, 'The action is great but that's not just what this series is about -- we need much more dialog, and we need to get to know these characters.'"
