Cartoon Network has
posted several pictures from the upcoming episode call "The Gathering." If you
will remember
back to August 27th, I reported that George Lucas had mentioned at
Celebration VI about a possible third show other than The Clone Wars and
Detours. It was called Young Jedi. A special 88 minute showing of Young Jedi was
shown at CVI that included Ahsoka as she mentors 6 younglings who appeared to be
young teenagers and their adventures into becoming full padawans. It was
screened to parents and their children as a possible test audience for the show.
The Gathering is the first 22 minutes of that 88 minute or four part story
arc from which these images are taken. It looks like we will see these episodes
in Season 5, but is it a launching pad for a new Young Jedi show or just part of
this season since the time slot is now on Saturday mornings where young children
are watching. If there wasn't any relevance and it will not be spun off into its
new show, then why show us sneak pictures now? Hmmm...
SPOILER ALERT:Highlight to read:
This first episode The
Gathering takes place on the planet Ilum as the young
Jedi come to get crystals for their lightsabers. Ilum was an ice planet in the
Unknown Regions, one of the main sources of the valuable Adegan crystals used in
the construction of Jedi lightsabers. The caverns containing the crystals were
long ago turned into a Jedi temple. Unlike the crystals of other planets, the
crystals of Ilum could produce green, blue, red, yellow, and violet colored
lightsaber crystals. End of spoilers. I am looking forward to see where
things go from here.
