Movies Section
Updated |
Today I have updated the Movies Section with the popular Fan Film entitled
Revelations. Revelations was probably the best
fan film released in 2005. Running at 47 minutes, you get a great space chase
and plenty of good vs. evil. Also, there is an original film score which you can
download in our Music section!
The story takes place between Episodes 3
and 4 of the Star Wars Saga. Emperor Palpatine's power has spread throughout the
galaxy and Darth Vader is a feared figure. The Jedi are hunted fugitives and
anyone suspected of harboring Jedi or having any information about them is taken
into Imperial custody.
Taryn Anwar, has broken way from Imperial control
and is searching for an ancient Jedi artifact. Said to contain great power, it
could be the key to destroying the Empire -- if she can locate it before Zhanna,
the Emperor’s Hand, does. It’s a race between good and evil as the fate of the
galaxy hangs in the balance. You can visit their
website for more information. Enjoy!

"The World of
Star Wars" - Why??? |
The latest Homing Beacon was
released talking all about "The World of Star Wars" that we reported about on Wednesday.
They seem to really be promoting this new site and I get the feeling from the
Beacon that if you want new and interesting content, then you will need to go
there and get it from other fans like yourself, because starwars.com only plans
on bringing us the big stuff, like the 3D Clone Wars, and Live-Action series.
Here is my thought... Why spend all this money and effort in creating a new
site when starwars.com is currently in a dormant state with really only news
about the Young Indiana Jones Series. We Hyperspace members are paying for new
and exclusive content about Star Wars! That money, time, and effort should have
been focused on the Official Site, and not in some new one. Of course, that is
my opinion. |

Hal Wamsley -
Jawa Imposter? |
Captain Sith Park sent in some
more news and this time it is crazy stuff! A Rebelscummer posted this Q (thread)
back in '05:
TX 412 - Anyone know the truth about Hal Wamsley? is it possible
this now 5'9" man could have been a Jawa (Dathcha, the Jawa who shot R2) at the
time of ANH? His name is not in the Film credits at all, however he has appeared
at many conventions sitting at the tables right next to such stars as Billy Dee
Williams, or David Prowse
Gary from Wattographs (a respected 'SW' auto. service in the U.S. ) then
posted this info (within the thread) via EchoStation on a report (and follow-up)
it did http://echostation.com/features/con2.htm and it's follow-up
here: http://echostation.com/features/con2000b.htm - (3rd and

Jawa Imposter Posted By Dustin on October 24, 2007
Crave
Online.com has posted an article updating fans on the saga of Hal Wamsley, a man
who claims to have played a Jawa in Star Wars : A New Hope.
Here's a
small snippet... "For many years Hal Wamsley has been presenting himself as a
cast member of Star Wars: A New Hope and selling autographs at conventions.
IMDb.com lists him in the film’s credits (but he is not in the actual credits).
However, many details of his claim have been contradicted by Lucasfilm." Full text article from CraveOnline.
Wattographs has also posted the news item "WANNA BUY A USED
DROID? NOT FROM THIS AUTOGRAPHER..."
Bizarre goings on. Thanks for the update Captain Sith

"The World of
Star Wars" |
Yahoo! has partnered with the Official Star Wars Site to bring a new Star Wars site to the
Internet community called "The World of Star Wars." The site is currently in a
beta status, and it can be accessed at http://starwars.yahoo.com. "The World of Star Wars" leans
heavily on the new Web 2.0 concept of social-networking, providing users many
ways to contribute and be a part of the site. It looks like it may catch on well
with Star Wars fans and non-fans alike. Be sure to check it out! |

KOTOR MMO
Update |
PrimoTechnology.com has an interesting article about the
future of a possible KOTOR MMO.
"A source close to BioWare confirmed to us today that the studio’s
upcoming untitled massively-multiplayer online RPG will be centered around the
Star Wars universe, specifically that of Knights of the Old Republic, which the
developer released in 2003. The game garnered critical acclaim and spawned a
less-popular sequel, released by Obsidian two years later.
The game is being developed by the company’s Austin studio, formed in 2006
and headed by BioWare Creative Director James Ohlen, whose past credits include
the first KOTOR, Neverwinter Nights, and Baldur Gate’s I and II.
This is not the first Star Wars-related MMORPG: Star Wars Galaxies debuted
in the summer of 2003, followed by several expansions. It was generally
well-received by fans and critics, but subscriber numbers plunged and never
recovered after a controversial gameplay update in 2005. It’s estimated that the
game now has fewer than 100,000 subscribers and less than 20,000 active
players.
It’s currently unknown whether or not EA, which acquired BioWare last
week, will act as publisher for this title, or if the studio had a previous
arrangement with another publisher.
Expect the game sometime in 2009."
This is more fuel to reality of this game. Some of you will love the idea,
and some of you will not. |

Star Wars 3D
Update |
TheForce.net has an update on the status of Star Wars in 3D
from their latest ForceCast.
"I have a story that may be of interest to Star Wars fans awaiting the
rumoured 3D release of the films.
I am a director/cinematogrqpher working
on a documentary series for a local broadcaster. This past summer I spent a day
with the in-house production team at Christie Digital Systems in Kitchener ,
Ontario, Canada sharing with them cinematic techniques I use with HDV
cameras.
Christie are the premier provider of the new digital projectors
which are rapidly making their way out to U.S. cinemas at a rate of
approximately 40 per month. While there, they gave me a tour of their amazing
facilities where you are required to where a lab suit, hair net, and shoe
coverings.
What was most interesting was their 3D lab where they were
working on the projection process that will be used for the "Star Wars" films.
In fact I was told they were being converted at the cost of 10 million per
film.
The tedious process of reformatting the films is done on a per
frame basis and is completed elsewhere, but they spoke confidently that this was
occurring. I had a chance to view one of their new 3D systems and to say the
least, I was stunned."
Lucasfilm keeps saying it isn't coming anytime soon, but all reports keep
leading us to believe it is closer to a reality than they are letting
on. |
