Star Wars
Collectors Guide Coming |
For years, fans from all over the
world have been building up their collections of Star Wars memorabilia, putting
them in nice displays and showing off those items that really make their
collections unique and stand out from the rest. But did you ever wonder what is
really out there? Keep reading to know all about it from our friend and fellow
Sworian Steven Weimer!
In December, 2008 you can find out! Well known Star
Wars collectors’ Gus Lopez and Duncan Jenkins have put together an impressive
book on Star Wars memorabilia from around the world. “Gus and Duncan’s
Comprehensive Guide to Star Wars Collectibles” is the most complete collecting
guide ever assembled. The massive book contains over 75,000 Star Wars
collectibles with over 36,000 photo’s for reference. This 992 page, hardcover
book covers everything from coins, comic books, food premiums, bootlegs and much
more from over 100 different countries. A must have for any die-hard Star Wars
fan! You can soon go to completistpublications.com to reserve your copy today! Price
of this book is $64.99.
I had the opportunity to ask Gus Lopez himself a
few brief questions regarding the new book:
1. When did you realize you wanted to
start a project like this? We started just under 5 years ago.
First began building a database (on theswca.com) of every Star Wars item ever
made and worked our way to a book format.
2. Your book has over 75,000 Star Wars
collectibles, I’m assuming we’ll see a lot of cool foreign items in there as
well? Absolutely, this will be more extensive than anything
published before. Tons of foreign items that have never been covered in previous
Star Wars books, vintage through contemporary.
3. Your partner in crime, Duncan Jenkins,
has helped you quite extensively with this book. How many others have helped out
with submissions and research? Duncan and I did the bulk of the
work, but we also got quite a bit of help from our spouses, friends and family.
We tapped domain experts in certain categories and had a few fellow collectors
help with proof reading. There are a couple hundred collectors who contributed
some information (sometimes single entries) that were used in this
book.
4. How is the contents of this book
different from other Star Wars collecting guides? This is the
first guide that is truly complete, showing every single category, licensed and
bootleg, 100’s of countries, vintage to present. It took us nearly half a decade
to assemble with extensive resources, so I’m fairly confident no one has seen a
guide this extensive.
5. When may we see this book available to
the public and where can we buy one? Go to
completistpublications.com.
6. Any plans on any future books by
yourself or Duncan? Yes, Duncan and I have a few books in the
works and every several years we plan to do updates to this price
guide. |

Lightsabre
News |
Our good friend Mark and fellow
"Sworian" from Lightsabre sends in the latest news.
"First off we bring our latest star interview with none other than Tom
Hodges. It's the second part of our chat with Tom, where he discusses a bit of
politicsa, his artistic influences and...skunk women. Yep, you have to check out
the interview to find out more...
Last week Turning to the Dork Side returned, courtesy of our pal Neil
Baker, and a pleasure it is to host it again on the site. It's always good for a
laugh, and keep your eyes open for a third Setnin Side coming soon.
The latest page of our Quest for Freedom adaptation arrived this last
weekend,as Richard Skidmore approaches the final page of his tenure on the strip
before Tim Wann takes over. Check it out and see the destruction wrought by the
Empire's attack on the A-desandian city of Ecaps.
Our weekly look into the world of Setnin ended last week and instead we
turn our attention to the weapons and technology of the sector.
Coming next week we chat with composer James Semple, followed the week
after by our next star interview. We're not saying who, but here's two clues -
sompeetalay and boing, boing, baggie, baggie..." |
