Today's new video clip is General
Manager Peter Ronchetti of LEGOLAND California announcing that a new Star Wars
Miniland area will be opening at the family theme park on March 31,
2011.
The announcement came when a Jedi Knight -- flanked by
stormtroopers from the 501st Legion -- interrupted the Resort's annual press
conference in a maelstrom of darkness and lasers.
On March 31 LEGOLAND
California becomes the first of three LEGOLAND Parks to launch a new Star Wars
Miniland area. Guests can enjoy seven of the most famous scenes from the six
live-action Star Wars movies, as well as a scene from the animated series Star
Wars: The Clone Wars all made out of 1.5 million LEGO bricks and built in 1:20
scale. Guests will be further immersed into the Star Wars experience as they
pose with life-size LEGO models of Chewbacca, R2D2 and Darth Vader. LEGOLAND
Billund and LEGOLAND Deutschland will launch the Star Wars Miniland area later
this year.
Following a chronological path through the Star Wars
timeline, LEGOLAND guests retrace the major events of the beloved Saga. Some of
the 2,000 LEGO models will be more than 6-feet-tall. Interactive buttons will
allow children to activate animations throughout the scenes.
The models
for the new Star Wars area are being developed and built by eight model
designers and two animation electricians at their sister park, LEGOLAND
Deutschland. It will be up to Master Model Builders at LEGOLAND California to
bring the scenes to life with the help of animation electricians, technicians
and landscapers all working to ensure the LEGO models appear as realistic as
possible with special effects and landscaping. Enjoy!

New Featured
Artist-Andrew Ravenwood |
Today I have started a new gallery called the Andrew Ravenwood Collection
in the Featured Artists section.
Andrew Ravenwood is a gifted Star Wars artist who used a program called Bryce
to create digital Star Wars art and he displayed that work on his website called
Andrew's Star Wars Site in the late 1990's through the early 2000's. When he
took his website down in 2004, his artwork seemed to be lost forever as with so
many other Star Wars websites. I really like his style and began seeking Andrew
out to see if I could provide a gallery of work here at Galactic Voyage. It took
several years, but with the ability to find others using Twitter and Facebook, I
was finally able to locate Andrew. He has graciously allowed me to provide his
artwork once again to Star Wars fans.
A word from Andrew:
"Andrew's Star Wars Site began its humble existence in the run-up to Episode
1; it originally existed as an exercise in web design as this was an area in
which I wanted to evolve my design skills. I was at this time an experienced
Photoshop user and had recently discovered Bryce (A landscape modeling
application) it seemed inevitable that my interests in art and Star Wars would
be combined and thus ASWS evolved into a site that provided and encouraged Star
Wars fan art."
I will be adding the images to his collection on a regular basis until it is
as complete as possible. The first image is from Andrew's Digital Art
section and is entitled "Futile Escape." I will also be providing a Wallpaper
section in the coming days with the Star Wars wallpapers he created. Enjoy!

The Turkish filmmaker for Rise of the Rebellion
has released the fourth webisode entitled "Jedi Business." We last reported Part
3 being released September 13th, 2010. I love the camera work, the tension and
scope of the scenes, and the effects are great!
About the Series: The Story is set between Episode III and IV. Newly
formed Rebel Alliance seeks opportunity to gather supplies and information about
Emperor's "ULTIMATE WEAPON." In the meantime last remnants of the Jedi hide in
outer rim planets hoping Emperor's oppression will never find them. In the
course of the odyssey 2 rebel spies travel with faithful friends to an Empire
occupied planet Eison where they meet new allies, alien creatures, and evil
machines.
A series of test shoots and short films shot in 2004 and 2005 were later
formed into the project Rise of the Rebellion in 2006. The entire cast and crew
has worked voluntarily. Filming locations were in Bolu, Ankara and Istanbul as
well as the Bilkent University Communication and Design Department Studios. A
big portion of the film was shot in 2006 and 2007. The post-production of the
project commenced in 2008. The project shortly became an international fan film
with the help of Star Wars fans from all around the world including the USA and
Australia. In 2010 the project changed it's format from a short film into web
series. The series will consist of 6 webisodes and will be between 6 and 10
minutes each.
So far four webisodes have been released and I can't wait for the next
installment!
