The Force
Unleashed: From Concept to Console |
The Official Star Wars Site has a great article with a lot of
concept art to the upcoming Next Generation Star Wars game, The Force Unleashed.
"We're not saying it lightly when we describe The Force Unleashed as the next
chapter in the Star Wars saga -- we know how much weight that carries to
Star Wars fans. Many aspects of this game have been amped up to
movie-scale, including the lead-up to its release. For the previous Star
Wars chapters -- the prequel trilogy -- this lead-up period was extensively
chronicled on the official website and in a number of "Making Of" books."
Be sure to read the entire article and view some great new concept
images! |

Battlefront III
News |
Games Radar posted an article
on March 2nd talking about the upcoming Battlefront III game. The March issue of
UK magazine PlayStation World dropped quite a bomb in its pages this week, in
the middle of a Star Wars retrospective feature. On page 65, PSW states that
Free Radical - the team behind GoldenEye and TimeSplitters - is masterminding
the next iteration of the Star Wars Battlefront franchise. Check out what they
had to say:
"Star Wars Battlefront III is also currently in development, with LucasArts
having switched coders from Pandemic Studios - who made Battlefront I and
Battlefront II - to Free Radical... Star Wars Battlefront III is listed as an
Xbox 360 exclusive, but expect a full PSW review to before the end of the
year."
Just remember that LucasArts has not made any official announcements yet. I
certainly hope that the Xbox 360 exclusive piece is false because I still play
Battlefront II nearly on a daily basis with the PC. It is starting to look like
the future of all Star Wars Next Gen games are going to be leaving the PC out
which will also include leaving me out as a consumer. |

Featured Artist
Craig Burt-Painting by Numbers 24 |
Featured Artist Craig Burt has provided us
with a breakdown of one of his paintings that provides us with a look into how
the picture came about.
"Clone
Clone On The Range"
Did you get the song meaning? You know... Home, Home on the Range,
where the deer and the antelope play... Anyway, that is how I took the title.
Now here is some of the article created by Craig:
This is another of the old paintings; as it's inspiration might
suggest.
1. This is a Probeshot by Guy Lagacé and was what inspired me to
do this painting. Guy is a long time Star Wars fan who did some great digital
art work before he left the scene. This Probeshot is a good example of how
excellent his work was.
Be looking for Guy Lagacé's section to be revamped with all his
great art in the near future!
Also, be sure to read the rest of the article about "Clone
Clone On The Range" in the Painting by
Numbers section. Thanks Craig for another great walkthrough of how this
image came about! Enjoy! |

Master Replicas'
Combat Trials |
In the Jedi Order, the Jedi Trials are challenges which are
undertaken by Padawans to earn the title of Jedi Knight. These tests are very
often retaken by those Jedi Knights who aspire to earn the rank of Jedi Master,
and a seat on the Jedi Council.
The Trials are formal tests administered by the Jedi Council on
any Padawan deemed worthy. The Padawan is tested by the Jedi Masters themselves
in a controlled setting.
Now, for the very first time, the Council at Master Replicas has
opened up the trials for all aspiring Jedi Knights (or, should they choose the
path to the Dark Side – Sith Lords) to come and show their skills with a Force
FX Lightsaber.
There will be three separate competitions, and Padawans may enter
any one, two or all three. Padawans, please see the rules and regulations for
each, to determine your eligibility. Follow the link for more
information! |

3D Clone Wars TV
Show Rumors |
Entertainmentgeekly.com has posted what they are calling a spy
report about the upcoming Clone Wars TV shows. For now, we are definitely
treating this is a rumor, but it does at least get you thinking about the
product we may see. The first episode of the series takes place between Episode
2 and 3, and focuses on the good guys Anakin and Obi-Wan, and the bad guys Count
Dooku and Asajj Ventress. Anakin also has a young Padawan, a red Twilek girl.
The plot of the first episode revolved around the Jedi trying to rescue Jabba
the Hutt's son from Separatist forces.
Reaction to the show was not
entirely positive. Vehicles and clone troopers were rendered somewhat
realistically, but other characters have sort of a Supermarionation feel to
them. The general sentiment was that you can get away with this when rendering
alien characters, but not humans. For some unexplainable reason, R2-D2 looks
like claymation.
This show was apparently animated in Lucasfilm's new
Singapore facility. There is apparently a disconnect between Lucas and his
minions. Lucas proclaimed that this CGI Clone Wars show has a definite dark
tone, a sentiment the marketing droids did not share.
This show is
intended to be aired weekly on primetime network television, and it will be
aimed at 12 year olds. There will be another animated show aimed at 6 year olds,
and a live action show aimed at 16 year olds. I am sure hoping that this report
is a rumor and that the show will in fact be a good one. The targeted audience
is probably correct for a cartoon of this sort. We will soon see. |
