Today I have updated the A New Hope Cut Scenes section with
a breakdown and picture of a scene cut from the film. The new scene is called Stormtroopers
Trapped. I will continue to work on this section to bring you more
information instead of just a few pictures like before. I have always loved any
scenes that were left out of the movies (good or bad) and just wanted to share
them with you. Enjoy!

Featured Artist
Craig Burt-Painting by Numbers 4 |
Featured Artist Craig Burt has sent in another
breakdown of one of his paintings that provides us with a look into how the
picture came about. Here is some of the article created by Craig:
"Dooku Dance"
This one is, I'm pretty sure, the first time I tried to do a
digital style rendition of a scene. Because of the method I decided to use -
basically a digital colouring-in of a drawing - that meant the drawing was going
to be cartoon style.
1. Are the sketches for the picture. They are very
rudimentary because they didn't need to be anything more. Mostly the pose and
style was all that needed to be decided. The picture would be basically a line
drawing, so the details could be added as you draw - and because it would be
finished on the PC any mistakes could be fixed there too.
Be sure to read the rest of the article about "Dooku
Dance" in the Painting by
Numbers section. Thanks Craig for another great walkthrough of how this
image came about! Enjoy! |

Hyperspace's the
Secrets of Star Wars 07 Update |
As we reported earlier, Hyperspace
members get glimpses of concept art of a new Star Wars video game coming out in
2007/2008. Nextechnews.com has more information stating that:
"Apparently LucasArts got together with Pixelux and Natural Motion to Develop
new technology for their upcoming NextGen games (by this I believe they mean
games in general not just Star Wars)."
"The video below was leaked from a
closed event at E3 2006 to demonstrate the Digital Molecular Matter technology
that Pixelux developed. It's a tech demo so it wasn't defined as which Star Wars
game will showcase it, but the fact is it's enough to make every Star Wars fan
shed a tear and pray that whatever LucasArts game it is comes out as soon as
possible."
Here is your first look at the awesome new game. Watch it soon, because it
may not be out there very long!

Upcoming Star
Wars TV Shows |
Comingsoon.net has an article stating that Steve Sansweet,
Lucasfilm's Head of Fan Relations, talked about upcoming "Star Wars" events at
the San Diego Comic-Con in front of a huge crowd. He said that the "Star Wars"
animated series is now scheduled to premiere in 2008 and the live action series
sometime before 2010.
The animated series is set late during the Clone
Wars after Anakin Skywalker has achieved the rank of Jedi Knight. "We've been
spending the last couple of years building from scratch two new state-of-the-art
digital animation companies, one at Skywalker Ranch and one in Singapore,"
Sansweet said. "The scripts for the first batch of shows have been completed,
and Animation is hard at work on the first episodes."
Anakin, Obi-Wan,
Yoda, Count Dooku, Palpatine, General Grievous and Asajj Ventress are expected
to appear in the animated show.
Sansweet added that David Koepp's script
for Indiana Jones 4 is a couple of months away. They are hoping pre-production
can start at the end of this year or early 2007. |

Homing Beacon
#166 |
The latest Homing Beacon has
arrived and today we get to talk about the Tournament of Roses Parade. On
January 1, 2007, denizens of a galaxy far, far away will march down the streets
of Pasadena, California, in a one-of-a-kind "Star Wars Spectacular"
during the 118th Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade®.
More than 350 Star Wars characters, including stormtroopers, Imperial
officers, Ewoks and Darth Vader himself will entertain the nearly one million
people expected to line the streets of Pasadena to see the Parade in person and
the tens of millions of more around the world who tune in via multiple
television broadcasts.
The massive Imperial stormtrooper contingent will comprise members of the
international 501st Legion, a costuming and volunteer organization made up of
Star Wars fans. Some 200 stormtroopers from more than 20 countries will
participate in the Tournament of Roses Parade, showcasing the emblems and colors
of their local garrisons.
"During the global premiere of Star Wars: Episode III last May, George
Lucas was deeply impressed by the presence of 501st Legion members around the
globe, and we wanted to honor them for their loyal support of Star Wars
and their global philanthropy," said Tom Warner, Senior Director of Marketing
for Lucasfilm Ltd. Members of the 501st regularly volunteer their time to
support local charitable efforts.
Providing musical entertainment in the "Star Wars Spectacular" will be
the renowned Grambling State University Tiger Marching Band.
In keeping with this year's Parade theme "Our Good Nature," the "Star
Wars Spectacular" will feature the Ewoks, residents of the forest moon of
Endor, who will ride on a float showcasing their planet's unique environment
with a plea to "Save the Trees."
The celebration of Star Wars -- which coincides with the start of the
30th anniversary of the epic, six-episode adventure -- will also showcase a
float that depicts the romantic beauty of Naboo, the garden planet of the
Star Wars galaxy.
"Being part of a grand tradition like the Rose Parade is a fantastic way to
kick off this milestone year," Warner said. Over Memorial Day Weekend 2007, a
large fan convention, Star Wars Celebration IV, is expected to attract
more than 30,000 worldwide fans to the Los Angeles Convention
Center. |
