The latest Galactic Escape Pod has been

Abrams as the new Director for Star Wars: Episode VII, The Online Star Wars
Fansite Seminar, the upcoming novel Maul: Lockdown, Star Wars The Old Republic:
Rise of the Hutt Cartel, The Clone Wars Episode Shades of Reason, and introduce
the new Story Section of the podcast with The Story of Star Wars Episode IV A
New Hope LP Part 1.
As consumers of Star Wars podcasts, I understand that your listening time is
at a premium. Most podcasts in my opinion have one fatal flaw... They are all to
long! The majority are between 1 to 2 hours and that is a ton of time to invest
when the meat of those podcasts could have been covered in about 30 minutes or
less unless there are special guests.
Our goal for the episodes is to be concise and to the point and not waste a
lot of your time. I will provide you with news and information in a fun way
while hoping to have guests that you will enjoy. Please listen to the show and send me some feedback about
what you think! The e-mail for the show is podcast@galactic-voyage.com. Enjoy!
It is finally official! The Official Star Wars Site has finally
announced that J.J. Abrams, the Director of the re-imagined and highly
successful Star Trek series will in fact helm the new Star Wars: Episode VII.
"It's very exciting to have J.J. aboard leading the charge as we set off to
make a new Star Wars movie," said Kennedy. "J.J. is the perfect director
to helm this. Beyond having such great instincts as a filmmaker, he has an
intuitive understanding of this franchise. He understands the essence of the
Star Wars experience, and will bring that talent to create an
unforgettable motion picture."
George Lucas went on to say "I've consistently been impressed with J.J. as a
filmmaker and storyteller." He's an ideal choice to direct the new Star
Wars film and the legacy couldn't be in better hands."
"To be a part of the next chapter of the Star Wars saga, to
collaborate with Kathy Kennedy and this remarkable group of people, is an
absolute honor," J.J. Abrams said. "I may be even more grateful to George Lucas
now than I was as a kid."
Today's new video clip is a third
preview for Episode 15 of Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 5 entitled "Shades of
Reason." Backed by the criminal underworld, the Sith and Death Watch launch an

News has hit just about every news
source since yesterday afternoon about J. J. Abrams being courted to direct Star
Wars: Episode VII. I say not so fast. He was on the list in the beginning to be
a frontrunner for the job. Then he declined publicly about taking the job due to
his efforts toward the Star Trek franchise. Now he is back in again?
Not that I don't think he would be great for the job, would do well, and he
is a huge Star Wars fan, but will he remove himself from directing future Star
Trek movies? My thinking is that there would be some overlap between schedules
if he were to direct both Star Wars and Star Trek movies. If nothing else, I
would be concerned about sheer burnout? Remember, this is all another big rumor
until we hear from Lucasfilm and or Disney.

io9 has provided a look at the cover and synopsis for
Lockdown, which comes out at the end of 2013.
From the mind of Joe Schreiber, New York Times bestselling author of Star
Wars: Death Troopers, comes the delirious follow-up to last year's Darth
Plagueis. In a tale of retribution and survival set before the events of The
Phantom Menace, Darth Plagueis and Darth Sidious dispatch Sith apprentice Darth
Maul on a secret mission to infiltrate a criminal empire operating from inside
Cog Hive Seven-a hidden prison teeming with the galaxy's most savage criminals.
There, he must contend against the scummiest and most villainous in gladiatorial
death matches while carrying out his masters' clandestine commands. Failure is
not an option; success will ignite the revenge of the Sith against the Jedi
Order.
