Spring 2006 Comics

Rebellion.jpg (39458 bytes)The Official Star Wars Site has provided a look at what Dark Horse Comics has in store for Star Wars fans in the spring. Watch the fall of the Republic through the eyes of Sagoro Autem -- Senate Guard, mercenary, prisoner, Clone Wars hero, and Imperial target -- in a story that spans from before the Clone Wars to the first mission of Darth Vader!

Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker are tasked with the protection of a Senator from assassination attempts. Joining the Jedi in their mission is Autem, loyal Senate Guard. Yet, as Obi-Wan and Anakin fend off a league of master assassins, Autem discovers a link between the killers that will change his own life forever -- a secret he will not be able to face until the Clone Wars have come and gone, and he finds himself on the run from the new Emperor's enforcer, Darth Vader!

Collecting issues 46-48 and 78 of Star Wars Republic, this story reveals the ending to a story Star Wars fans have been waiting for years to resolve! It features the creative talents of John Ostrander, C.P. Smith, Luke Ross, Jasen Rodriguez, Digital Chameleon and a cover by Steve Firchow. It is scheduled for release on May 10.
Seeking to exploit a fatal flaw in the Rebel fleet's escape strategies, the Empire plants a sleeper agent in the Alliance's midst and sets into motion a series of events that will have devastating consequences for Luke Skywalker and his companions. Meanwhile, Darth Vader's own agenda runs counter to the Empire's schemes, and he's ensnared Lt. Janek Sunber to carry out a secret mission that will lead the idealistic Imperial officer straight into the heart of the Rebellion.

It's a compelling new story set between the events of A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back exploring Luke Skywalker and the Rebel Alliance's desperate struggle against the Galactic Empire, delivered in high-octane, widescreen style by writer Rob Williams (Cla$$war; Star Wars Tales) and artist Brandon Badeaux (Superman: Man of Steel; Star Wars: Empire). It is scheduled for release on April 12.

On the run and desperate to clear his name, fugitive Padawan Zayne Carrick guides his ragtag crew of scoundrels toward a treacherous asteroid moon, returning to the site of a significant moment in his Jedi training and to what he hopes will reveal the reason the entire Republic seems out to get him. The answers only lead to more riddles, however, and before they can fully interpret the information they've stumbled upon, the band of outcasts are assailed by yet another threat. And perhaps most surprising of all, their party grows by one as a new character enters the fray!

Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic #4, by John Jackson Miller, Brian Ching, Michael Atiyeh and Travis Charest is due out on April 26.

Find out the super-secret origins of Tag and Bink this April. The origin story of our hapless heroes begins on their respective planets, Alderaan and Corellia. These future soldiers of the Rebel Alliance are sized up for Padawan potential, and we are treated to a rare inside look at the rigorous mental and physical training undergone by aspiring Knights in the Jedi Temple! Mace Windu, Yoda, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and the elder Fett each have a role in the miseducation of Tag and Bink, but despite all this schoolin', the two decide that spying on Padmé and "the Chosen One" is a pretty good idea...

Star Wars: Tag & Bink Episode I -- Revenge of the Clone Menace, by (who else?) Kevin Rubio and Lucas Marangon is due out on April 26.

ROTS Gets The People's Choice Award

The Official Star Wars Site has announced that the people have chosen, and Revenge of the Sith arose to thunderous applause -- that is, it garnered two coveted People's Choice Awards last night in the category of Favorite Movie: Drama and Favorite Movie.

The winners of the 32nd Annual People's Choice Award are selected by pubic voting via the Internet, and the results were announced at the ceremony that aired last night on CBS. Star Wars creator George Lucas was on hand to receive the award. Here was his speech:

"Thank you. Thank you all. This is a very, very important award for me. Star Wars, oddly enough, doesn't really get that many awards. I'm not a big favorite with the critics, but who listens to them? I'm not a big industry favorite either, but of course they are a bunch of studio executives. The most important people for any filmmaker, the reason that I make films, is for you! The audience rules! Thank you. Thank you very much!"

LEGO Star Wars Video Games Goes Mobile

The hit console/PC/Mac game, LEGO Star Wars The Video Game, has now been released for the mobile community. It has just gone live on Orange in the UK, and will launch across Europe in the next 2 months and worldwide there after.

The game features:

  • Take on the role of Anakin Skywalker as he battles to rescue Senator Palpatine from the evil General Grievous.
  • Wield your lightsaber against battle droids, droid commanders and droidekas.
  • Use your mastery of the Force to move LEGO objects and build new pathways as you explore the ship.
  • 18 different levels of action.

Sounds exciting! Too bad this game won't work on my phone. Thanks to RebelScum for this news.

Fine Molds' Millennium Falcon

The Official Star Wars Site has announced that Fine Molds of Japan, who in the past has impressed Star Wars modelers with their intricately detailed starfighter kits, now offers the ship fans have been waiting for since the 2001 debut of the series: the Millennium Falcon.

Fans of the galaxy's most notorious hot-rod have long been able to purchase a model kit version of the Falcon that was devised by MPC shortly after the release of A New Hope. However, today's discriminating modelers and collectors demand enhanced detail and multiple display options, two attributes that were relatively limited on the original kit. Be sure to read the full article and see some cool pictures!
