Movieweb.com has an article with an unsubstantiated rumor from
an Australian radio host that Fringe star John Noble will play the villain.
Here's what the host Jo of Melbourne radio show FM had to say.
"(I have)
it on very good authority that Aussie actor John Noble will be appearing as the
villain."
They were even willing to offer a wager as to the validity of
the news. While the news may seem to come out of left field, John Noble is no
stranger to big-budget franchises. He played Denethor in Peter Jackson's The
Lord of The Rings: The Return of The King. Of course, he already has a
relationship with director J.J. Abrams from his work on Fringe, the Fox series
which the filmmaker created alongside Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman. Nothing
has been confirmed by Disney or LucasFilm yet, so stay tuned.
Did you know that there were two
Wedge Antilles in Star Wars A New Hope? If you are an original Star Wars fan
from 1977, a reader of the novels, or a character buff, you will know that the
were two actors that played Wedge originally. Why do you ask? Who is the other
Wedge you say? Pablo Hidalgo has a great article over at the Star Wars Blog about the mystery of the actor and who he is.
If you have as many Star Wars Insider magazines as I do, if you look in Star
Wars Insider #98, Colin Higgins (the fake Wedge as he his sometimes known) is
quoted as saying: “I’ll tell you my story. I was originally cast as Wedge. I
screwed it up, and I got fired — that is the true story. Every actor sometimes
gets fired if they screw it up and mine just happened to be on Star Wars!” Be
sure to check out the article for a great read.

EW.com e-mailed us the following information about the Star
Wars standalone movies.
Star Wars fans, admit it: you like scoundrels. And you're about to get more
of them in your life. The Walt Disney Co. unveiled plans to make a number of
spin-off movies set a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away - in addition to
the post-Return of the Jedi trilogy that had already been announced
Entertainment Weekly has learned details on two of the spin-off projects: A
young Han Solo saga, focusing on the wisecracking smuggler's origin story, and a
bounty hunter adventure with Boba Fett at the center of a rogue's gallery of
galactic scum. Be sure to read the entire story!
The Star Wars cinematic galaxy is about to experience a Big Bang. Lucasfilm
is officially announcing new spinoff films that will expand the mythos and
depths of the Star Wars universe in previously unexplored ways.
One of
the standalone films will be written by Lawrence Kasdan, screenwriter of The
Empire Strikes Back, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and co-writer of Return of the
Jedi while the other will be penned by Simon Kinberg, writer of Sherlock Holmes
and Mr. and Mrs. Smith. The movies will be separate from the upcoming Episodes
VII, VIII, and IX, on which Kasdan and Kinberg are also consulting, and are
expected to be released sometime after Episode VII. Each standalone film will
focus on a specific character, and two spinoff films are currently
confirmed.
In a call to investors, Bob Iger, chairman and CEO of The Walt
Disney Company, revealed that while the original focus was on the
highly-anticipated sequel trilogy, the idea of spinoff films was bandied about
early and the additional films are now becoming a reality. "We are in
development of a few standalone films," he said, "that are not part of the Star
Wars saga...there are now creative entities working on developing scripts for
what would be those standalone films."
