Drew Karpyshyn
Interview |
The Official Star Wars Site has provided an interview with author
Drew Karpyshyn, the writer of Darth Bane: Path of Destruction and the
upcoming Darth Bane: Rule of Two (out in hardcover from Del Rey Books on
December 26th, 2007).
Rule of Two is the second novel featuring Darth Bane, the legendary
Sith master who introduced the rule that subsequently defined the history of the
Sith: "Two there should be; no more, no less. One to embody the power, the other
to crave it." Is this just a darkly twisted version of the Jedi-Padawan
relationship, or is there more to it?
There is definitely a parallel between the Master-apprentice and Jedi-Padawan
relationships, in that you have a mentor passing on teachings, knowledge and
wisdom to a student. However, the Jedi use this relationship as a way to prepare
individuals for a life of service by teaching obedience to a greater authority,
whether it be a Padawan's Master, the Jedi Council, or the Force itself. In
contrast, the Sith see the Master-apprentice relationship as the first step in a
journey that will free the individual from all service. The ultimate
purpose of the Rule of Two is to have the student surpass and replace the
teacher... something the Jedi most certainly do not encourage.
Be sure to read the entire interview for more insight into this new
novel. |

The Force
Unleashed Not Coming to PC! |
The Force Unleashed has
been a mystery since it was first "shown" to us in late 2006, and then revealed
in 2007. Ever since then the details have been a bit "fuzzy" at best. In fact,
we didn't really know until recently that it was going to be on the Wii, and
that's why (at least I think) is why it was pushed back from November. Now we're
finding out from TF.N and their LA rep
quote ():
that it definitely will not be coming to PC.
I'm sorry for all you PC gamers, but I'm really excited for the 360
and even the Wii forms. We'll keep you up-to-date with any additional
information about the game as more becomes available as it closes near its
release date. |

Fanzine-Undercity
|
Joao (Jon) Gonçalves from the Fan Force Portugal has
sent in word about the Fanzine, "Undercity"
"After an
intensive work to make sure we would bring only the best content, art and
design, we finally released the Issue #0 of our Fanzine, "Undercity".
In many ways, Undercity is unprecedented.
Not only do we only have fan made content, from texts (fan fiction, opinion,
reviews, etc), but also the whole design of the magazine and fan art was created
with the talent of a Fan Forcer, Sandra Martins, a.k.a. Admiral Tina. We tried
our best to make sure the magazine was innovative in its message, as well as
accessible to all fans, not only for Portuguese fans but for the whole worldwide
community, making the magazine, entirely in English.
We invite you to
download this Issue #0 as we decided to make it a direct download, and as we are
working on Issue #1 for January we also ask for your insights on the magazine
and, please, send you suggestions and constructive critics.
Needless to
say, this magazine is not endorsed by Lucasfilm Ltd. All characters and
locations related to the brand Star Wars, and the brand itself are intellectual
property of Lucasfilm Ltd. All Rights Reserved."
Be sure to go have a

Coruscant
Nights-Jedi Twilight |
The Official Star Wars
Site has provided information about the latest new Star Wars book series.
With the dark ascension of the Empire, and the Jedi Knights virtually wiped out,
one Jedi who escaped the massacre is slated for a date with destiny--and a
confrontation with Darth Vader.
Jax Pavan is one of the few Jedi Knights who miraculously survived the
slaughter that followed Palpatine's ruthless Order 66. Now, deep in Coruscant's
Blackpit Slums, Jax ekes out a living as a private investigator, trying to help
people in need while concealing his Jedi identity and staying one step ahead of
the killers out for Jedi blood. Others search for the elusive Jax too.
Hard-boiled reporter Den Dhur and his buddy, the highly unorthodox droid I-5YQ,
have shocking news to bring Jax--about the father he never knew.
But when Jax learns that his old Jedi Master has been killed, leaving behind
the request that Jax finish a mission critical to the resistance, Jax has no
choice but to emerge from hiding--and risk detection by Darth Vader to fulfill
his Master's dying wish.
The Coruscant Nights series, by Michael Reaves, begins next summer from Del
Rey Books. |
