Jedinet Returns!!!Today
Jedinet has retured to the Star Wars ranks and it is truly a great day! They have been sorely missed by the Star Wars community and we welcome them back with open arms! Here is what they had to say:On April 30, 2001, many
of you read a disturbing message here at JediNet.com which stated that we were
closing our doors. Here's a brief rundown of what transpired:
Since the company which housed the server that JN rested on was about to increase
our monthly payments (and make even more restrictions on our bandwidth) we had to find a
new home. Once we found a server that could handle our bandwidth concerns and other needs
we quickly moved the site over, set up shop, and were completely satisfied. Well, almost
satisfied.
The new hosting company that we moved JediNet over to worked out for about a week.
With the amount of bandwidth that we were consuming the company had to move us over to a
dedicated line, which still couldn't successfully handle the traffic, so without notice
they turned the site 'off'. After a few conversations between numerous people, Vader
decided to pull the plug until an alternative could be found to our hosting problems.
Now, nearly a month after the ugly server demon reared its head it seems as if we have all
our problems sorted out. Don't think of us as the 'site that cried wolf' because the web
is a very unstable platform. Many of you who visit websites (doesn't matter which domain)
daily are unaware of the financial backing that some of them take. Those of you who have
your own sites that consume major amounts of bandwidth and have particular needs will most
likely acknowledge some of the stresses that come with serving the people.
On another front, now that we're back, JediNet would like to thank all those people
that mailed, phoned, and supported us during our downtime. We're back to serve the masses
with ego-free news on the most successful movie franchise of all time.
