6.8.01 Lucas honored with Kubrick Award! The Official Star Wars Site has announced that George Lucas will receive the prestigious Stanley Kubrick Britannia Award for Excellence in Film at the 11th Annual Britannia Awards. The award, presented by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts Los Angeles (BAFTA/LA), honors Lucas as an innovative filmmaker who has contributed much to the UK film industry. The films of the Star Wars and Indiana Jones series have been shot, in part, in the UK. The award will be presented at a ceremony at the Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles on November 10, 2001.
