Why does there appear to be statues...

This report comes from the Official Star Wars Site!
Answered by: Madame Jocasta Nu-Jedi Librarian

Why does there appear to be statues of horses in the scene where Jar Jar and his people are entering the city after defeating the droid army? Horses were never seen on any of the fantasy planets.

Those are not horses. They are in fact statues of guarlaras, royal riding animals used only by the monarchy. The galaxy contains a number of species similar to the mundane equines you are familiar with. The forest moon of Endor has several such species, including bordoks and gaupas.

12" Leia on Speederbike Sale at Target

The Target exclusive 12" Leia on a Speederbike has gone down in price, so now is definitely the time to head over to your local Target store! This exclusive to has gone from the original price of $49.99 to a very low $12.48!! Reports are coming in from all over the country with the same price, so go see if you can pick one up before they are gone! They are going fast!

Special Note:

If you just picked up this great toy and you paid the $49.99 as I did, you may still have a chance to get it for $12.48. I had some Target gift cards and cash from Christmas, and bought the 12" Leia on December 31st.

This week I received the news about the clearance price and was pretty upset that I paid full price. So, I called Target to see if I could get the sale price and the said YES!! Here is all you need to do:

  1. This works as long as you get to them within 14 days of the purchase.

  2. Have your receipt.

  3. Be sure to bring your toy in.

The reason for bringing the toy is because it was not a sale price, but a clearance price. I was lucky and they just took the money off of the ticket for me. But because it was clearance you may have to return the toy, get your money back, and then re-purchase the same toy for the clearance price. I hope your store will be as friendly about it as mine was and just fix the ticket, return your money and be done. I hope this will help a few of you. Good luck!!

Craig Burt's Obi-Wan

Craig Burt has provided another new picture to the Featured Artist section! This time we have a picture of Obi-Wan as he will be seen  in Episode III. Notice how much he looks like the Original Trilogy "Old Ben" with the same hair cut and Jedi robes. Craig says, "I liked doing the digital colouring of the last drawing I sent you, so I've done another for the painting gallery. Might start doing more of them and see what I can come up with." We will definitely look forward to more works like these! Be sure to check out his gallery of work with Craig Burt's Paintings and also Craig Burt's Cartoons! You can find other great work at the Featured Artists section. Thanks Craig!

Will there ever be an...

This report comes from the Official Star Wars Site!

Will there ever be an Episode II Insider's Guide?

I assume you're talking about the great CD-ROMs that LucasArts did for both the classic trilogy (Star Wars: Behind the Magic) and the first prequel (Star Wars: Episode I Insider's Guide). Both were chock full with exclusive interviews, rare footage, encyclopedia-like coverage, scene guides, still images, trivia, a look at characters, vehicles, the making of the films...and much, much more.

But basically two things have happened. First, the market has clearly moved away from such CD-ROMs; in fact, it had pretty much collapsed just as the Episode I Insider's Guide was starting to ship. And that's because the kinds of material that would be included on such CD-ROMs can be better placed on more interactive and updateable websites and richer DVDs -- which is exactly what Lucasfilm did for Episode II.

New 3 ¾” Figures with Collectors Glass

This report comes from the Official Star Wars Site...

As revealed in the latest Star Wars Insider magazine, Hasbro will make available a series of action figures packaged with collectors glasses representing the five current episodes of the Star Wars saga.

Available exclusively at Target stores this Spring, each 3 3/4" figure is packaged with an exclusive collectors glass. The illustrated designs on these
collector glasses are a nostalgic nod to some of the collectible drinking cups that accompanied the release of the original trilogy.

- A New Hope glass with Obi-Wan Kenobi

- The Phantom Menace glass with Darth Maul

- The Empire Strikes Back glass with Luke Skywalker

- Attack of the Clones glass with Anakin Skywalker

- Return of the Jedi glass with Princess Leia

The Holy Trilogy

Ohio.com has a great article on the history of the "trilogy" in modern Hollywood. Here's a clip from the first part of the great article:

When the characters in writer-director Kevin Smith's romantic comedy Chasing Amy mention ""the holy trilogy,'' they aren't discussing religion. They're talking about Star Wars.

Since the release of Return of the Jedi in 1983, fans and Hollywood executives alike have looked to the original three Star Wars films as the gold standard for handling movie sequels. Rather than telling a series of self-contained stories, this trilogy presented a single story across three films.

""Star Wars was different from anything that preceded it,'' said Leonard Maltin, film critic and host of the syndicated TV series Hot Ticket. ""It created a mystique and proved that (serialized filmmaking) could be done.''

Even lowbrow comedy sequels have tried to elevate themselves by claiming to be part of a trilogy. This summer's American Wedding, a second sequel to 1999's American Pie, was advertised as ""the thrilling climax of the American Pie saga.''

But it takes more than recurring characters and a serialized story to win fans' hearts.
