Star Wars Galaxies: Jump to Lightspeed

IGN has an interview with Haden Blackman about a new space expansion for Star Wars Galaxies.

"When we reviewed Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided last year, we gave the game high marks for the use of the license. Though the game had its shortcomings, gamers got a strong sense that they were in the world of Star Wars. But while the locations and characters and quests were authentic and convincing, there was a key piece of the puzzle missing -- spaceflight."

"Without that single element, any game based on the Star Wars franchise is incomplete, at least as far as fans are concerned. But later this year LucasArts will complete the picture with the release of a new expansion, Jump to Lightspeed. The new expansion offers players their first chance to jump into the seat of a number of different starfighters and seek their fortune in the vast, dark reaches of space."

Haden Blackman: "We'll launch with over fifteen player-operable starships, with the greatest emphasis on starfighters. Players will be able to pilot canonical vehicles, including familiar X-wings and TIE fighters, as well as some newly-created "mercenary" craft. We also hope to have well-known capital ships from Star Wars lore in the game as NPC-controlled opponents that will be central to epic battles."

Be sure to click here to read the entire article with great answers to questions by Haden Blackman and see some awesome screen shots from the game. This expansion has the look and feel of the old X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter games! Special thanks go to Bradley McGrath for providing us with this information.

Anthony Daniels Chat

WebChats will be hosting a chat session with Anthony Daniels live online on Monday 26th April from 14:00-15:00 (UK time I assume) to tell them about life behind the costume of C-3P0.

Anthony Daniels is probably best known for bringing to life the character of C-3P0 from the Star Wars saga. Having read the incomprehensible script but liking the golden robot, he asked if he could play the role. The next day he was covered in plaster as the first step in creating the now globally recognized character. Six months later the costume was almost ready and filming began. Although the Star Wars saga has formed a major part of Daniels' career, he has interspersed those movies with a variety of television and stage appearances. These range from situation comedies such as Square Deal and Three Up Two Down to more serious dramas such as Prime Suspect and Priestly's Dangerous Corner.

Make sure you submit your questions to: questions@webchats.tv.
