Republic Corvettes were capital ships used by the Republic Navy during the Mandalorian Wars around 3,964 before the Battle of Yavin, during the Jedi Civil War, and afterwards.
It was one of two capital ship classes upon which the Republic fleet depended—along with the Hammerhead-class capital ship—after most of the larger warships were stolen by Darth Revan and Darth Malak shortly after the Battle of Malachor V.
Many ships of this class were also used to defend Citadel Station, in orbit around Telos, against a Sith attack led by Darth Nihilus and the Ravager.
Republic Corvettes were seriously outclassed by the fleet of Leviathan-class Destroyers and Sith Starfighters on the attack of the Star Forge. The majority were destroyed in the war against the Sith, and few survived the until the rise of the Galactic Empire. The Republic Corvettes that did survive were relegated to service on backwater worlds that could not afford newer and more modern capital ships.
