The TIE/e3 is an experimental TIE Interceptor, with the four standard wingtip laser cannons removed, and two fast-fire laser cannon pods placed on the outer side of the solar panels. Information is classified. The TIE/e3 has never reached standard production status and little information is available on the TIE/e3. This was one of five experimental TIE fighter models designed and tested in combat by the former Imperial Admiral Zaarin, head of Imperial R&D. All five models were part of the first phase in a project that ended with the development of the very successful TIE Defender model.
