An experimental model that never made it into standard production, little information is available on the TIE/e1. What we do have is classified. Visually, the TIE/e1 was a TIE/ln with a single solar panel, on one side of which was the pilot ball, and on the other was an additional pod with a single large laser cannon. The two laser cannons were removed from the pilot pod.
The TIE/e1 was one of five experimental TIE fighter models designed and tested in combat by the former Imperial Admiral Zaarin, head of Imperial R&D. All five models were part of the first phase in a project that ended with the development of the very successful TIE Defender model.
