Galaxiki, the cool wiki based online science fiction galaxy
created, maintained and owned by its community has scored an interview with
David Prowse (Darth Vader)! Here is a small piece of the article:
Jos: When you were offered the role of Darth Vader, did you expect the
movie to become successful at all?
Dave: No, not really, no. To be perfectly honest, what
happened was I got a phone call from a very good friend of mine, who was a
managing director for 20th Century Fox. He got in touch with me and said
"Look, I got this guy called George Lucas, who's set up office in the 20th
Century Fox offices in London, and he says he wants to see you." And I said
"Well that's interesting, but who is George Lucas?"
The only thing
he could tell me was that Lucas had done a film called "American
Graffiti" which was very successful in America. So that's basically all I
knew. I knew nothing about him whatsoever.
I eventually went up to see
him, he showed me a lot of conceptual drawings from Star Wars and then he said
to me "Look, I'm doing this film which is like a space science fiction movie
and I'd like to offer you one of two parts in the movie". So I said "What
are the two parts?" - "Well, the first one is a character called
Chewbacca..." and I said "What the hell is that?" He said it's like a
hairy gorilla who goes through the film on the side of the good ones. And I just
said "No thanks, you keep it..."
I asked what the other part was
and Lucas said "The other part's the big villain of the film". So I said
"George, I'd like to play the villain!"

RebelScum has a great
question and answer session with eFX! If you will remember our previous articles
in January, eFX is taking over the contract from Master Replicas.
Q. We thought that eFX was going to introduce its first
products at Comic Con in July. How come you are offering the A New Hope
Stormtrooper Helmet now?
A. Yes, that was the original plan to
introduce our first products at San Diego Comic Con; however, as you know, many
collectors were extremely disappointed when their order for a Stormtrooper
Helmet was cancelled by either Master Replicas or their Authorized Retailers.
Unfortunately not enough helmets were made and shipped before MR’s license
expired and as a result a large number of customers were unable to own this
iconic helmet.
Lucasfilm became aware of this issue and discussed it with
us to determine a way to help out the fans and fix this short
fall.
Rather than see disappointed fans facing high prices on e-Bay,
etc., Lucasfilm granted eFX special permission to make additional helmets at
this time, even though it was not part of our original product plan.
Q. What will be the cost and edition size of your Stormtooper
Helmet?
A. The suggested retail price of this helmet will be
the same as MR, US$399, and the edition size will be strictly limited to 500
pieces. This is substantially less than the 1,452 shortage of Master Replicas’
original published edition size of 2,500. However, 500 is the approximate number
of MR direct and Authorized Retailer’s pre-orders that were cancelled and this
number is consistent with the eFX philosophy of keeping collectibles,
collectible.

Music4Games has an article
about the creation of music for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. Jesse Harlin,
Music Supervisor at LucasArts, describes the direction and music concept for the
game, “The entire story of The Force Unleashed is centered on two core concepts
– bridging the gap between Episodes 3 and 4 of the Star Wars films and the
overarching theme of redemption.
Project Lead Haden Blackman was very clear to me from the outset about his
desire to have the music focus on the exact same core themes. The game travels
to new planets, new locations, and with the exception of Darth Vader, we’re also
dealing with a slew of new characters. From a musical perspective, all of those
factors mandated the inclusion of an original score for the game.” Be sure to read the entire article for more!
This weekend a Polish site leaked
the Clone Wars trailer. This is the full trailer that will be seen in front of
Speed Racer. It is really cool, but it is being taken down everywhere, so it
won't last long! Enjoy!
Today is a sad day, as Episode
270 concludes the great run of the Gamic Star Wars Galaxies-Path to the
Force. I would just like to give Nathan Ciprick a huge special thank you for
allowing Galactic Voyage to host his Gamics. His stories will still be available
in the Comics section. They
sure have been great and I love the medium of comics and games coming together
for these stories in the Star Wars Universe. I hope we will be fortunate enough
in the future to have more great stories! Your the best Nathan!
